Spooky Edible Slime

Here’s a yummy recipe that’s perfect for little monsters to go with our ghoulish new ghost crumpets!

INGREDIENTS

marshmallows

  • 1 Large bag of mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 Cup vegetable oil
  • 1 Cup icing sugar
  • Dash of green food colouring

METHOD

Ask an adult to pour the bag of marshmallows into a large microwave safe bowl and heat for 30 seconds and stop. Then repeat.

Add in the icing sugar, colouring and oil then mix together, but be careful with the hot mixture!

Let it cool for about 15 minutes. Coat your hands in some of the remaining oil and mix by hand. It will be really sticky, but you can continue adding a little oil until you are happy with the consistency.

Best played with on a washable surface! If you want to make your slime less sticky, it helps to coat your hands in some oil.

Mini Pizza Crumpet

Ingredients

  • Tomato puree
  • Grated mozzarella cheese
  • Your choice of toppings (bacon, ham, cherry tomatoes, tuna etc.)
  • Oregano
  • Our Crumpets

Method

Spread the tomato puree over the crumpets, top with mozzarella cheese then add your choice of toppings and sprinkle oregano on top. Grill for a few minutes under a hot grill, until the cheese is melted. Speedy and scrumptious! Here’ s a great selection of toppings for our crumpets:

  • Cheese & Gherkin slices. What a collaboration!
  • Smoked Salmon and hollandaise sauce. Very special!
  • Raspberry or strawberry preserve, marmalade or lemon curd. JUST lovely!
  • Chocolate spread. Luxurious!
  • Cream cheese with a dollop of marmalade.
  • Spreadable cheese with gooey marmite on top.
  • Sliced or mashed banana, if liked, sprinkle cinnamon or nutmeg on top. Delicious!
  • Crème freche with a drizzle of the best maple syrup. Amazing!
  • Simple baked beans, but try sprinkling basil or coriander on top to posh it up!
  • A lover or a hater? Vegemite, Marmite, any other yeast extract spread is fab!
  • Or if keeping it simple you ‘JUST’ can’t beat butter, peanut butter, almond butter, honey or lashings of runny golden syrup!

Marmite & Cheese Melt Crumpets

Ingredients

  • Crumpets
  • Butter, or spread
  • Marmite
  • Grated cheddar cheese

Spread butter on the top of your crumpets, then marmite. Top with cheese and brown under the grill until the cheese has melted. Don’ t forget the tissues when you’ re eating – to catch all the drools!

Fruit Compote Crumpets

Ingredients

Compote ingredients:

  • 1 cup golden raisins
  • 1 cup dried cherries
  • 1 cup dried apricots (quartered)
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 vanilla bean,
  • 2 split whole star anise
  • 6 crumpets
  • 2 tablespoons liquid honey
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt

Method

Place all the compote ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook 10 minutes then turn off the heat and let plump 30 minutes. Cool to room temperature.

Toast the crumpets in the toaster and spread with honey. Place on a plate and top with a spoonful of the dried fruit compote and a dollop of vanilla yogurt. Yummy!
